My First Doctors Appointment

"I had my first doctors appointment with Dr. Lowe on Wednesday. She works with Papa Charles so I am lucky and get to see my grandpa when I go to the doctor! She is really nice and knows a lot about preemies like me. I was very brave and only cried when she had to check my circumcision... bet all you boys can understand! I weigh 6lbs. 5oz. now and am 19.8 inches long! I am in the 25th percentile for all children 37 weeks like me. I am getting to be a big boy. Dr. Lowe says everything looks great! I just need to keep eating, sleeping and pooping ~ the three things I do best!"

  1. I'm glad to hear that Noah is growing and doing well, but I have to say something:

"I was very brave and only cried when she had to check my circumcision...bet all you boys can understand!"

The circumcision rate in NC, and nationwide is less than 56%. I am not trying to make you feel bad for what's already done, but circumcision in general, let alone of a premie, is a very bad idea.

Many parents who circumcised their sons and learn more about it later on find comfort in being able to educate other parents so that they don't make the same mistake they did.

  2. Just read your post and wanted to say that you made a smart choice circumcising, it is cleaner and healthier for boys. After doing a lot of research, I had my son circumcised and I am very glad that I did.
I know if boys aren't done at birth its pretty common for them to need to be circumcised later in life. My brother needed to be circumcised later in life and I don't want to risk putting my son through that. Plus, I have yet to meet a single man that wasn't happy to be circumcised, but a lot of uncircumcised guys seem to wish they had been snipped.
I have done a lot of research on circumcision and thought you might find these links helpful, and feel free to pass them on to anyone you know who could use them:

  3. Wow, it appears that if you click on Saram's name, the blogs she follows are all circumcision fetish sites!

As are every single link she's posted. I don't really know where to begin, because I'll start:

    1. It's actually cleaner and healthier to leave the foreskin intact. You're not creating an open wound, and no special cleaning is needed.

    2. It's actually not that common to "need" to be circumcised later in life. Usually more conservative treatment options are available. If it is necessary, they can be thoroughly numbed up and put under. Not so for babies who don't understand what is going on and why they are in excrutiating pain.

    3. Actually plenty of cut men are angry or dissatisfied with it. And most men who are intact are glad to be that way. Although I'm sure there are exceptions, I have to wonder who you are talking to.

I didn't mean this to be a debate forum, but I'm not going to sit back while someone spews fetish propaganda aimed at a child.
